Please note that we switch on the profile images. So we follow your suggestions and discussions again.
Important: You find the image settings via the member navigation in your profile. You can set different privacy settings. If privacy settings can not be full filled by the viewer: an avatar will be displayed instead of your profile image.
For this every user got an random selected avtar. You can change this avatar next to your profile image. More information reagarding the profile images you will find within the next days on the insider blog.

New features and map material
A lot of work has been done in the past months. All relevant details are published in the belodged.com team blog ...
Please see below an extraction of the main improvements we made:
New continental, country based and national maps are now available
Scale / size of the integrated google maps was enlarged to wide-screen
Locations on the detailed maps are now enriched with appropriate pictures and wikipedia content
Option to add your facebook, myspace and hi5 pages within your belodged.com profile (see navigation community). Moreover you may set who and who's not allowed to see this information...
Discussion boards with new feature upgrades
Enhancement of the 'tell-a-friend' tool with new convenient services
You can find belodged.com on facebook, hi5 and myspace. If you know some more community portals we should join, just tell us ;o)
What's next? On the blog you will also find a small road map about the ongoing work on the belodged.com platform. Feel free to recommend and discuss this and other features and content within the discussion forums in the member area of belodged.com

Your personal directory and blog
In belodged.com there is always something going on. We are proud to announce that the address book is 'ready for action'. From now on it's even more convenient to manage your own contacts and to add personal notes. You'll find the directory in "Member Navigation >> Profile >> Messages'.
Besides you do probably wish to share your travel experiences with other community members respectively keeping a diary!? No problem! Thanks to "WordPress" you can now start your own travel blog with belodged.com

Vibrancy
We listen, discuss with you and then we do it. You asked in the forums, talked about it and just as we announced in the development blog at myblog.belodged.com - here are some new functions:
Absence: If you are not available for some time (for example, because you are traveling all over the world with belodged.com again) you are now able to set your profile on absent - and you won't show up in the search results anymore.
GOAL: Other users won't try to contact you in vain since you can't answer.
Reminder: If you send a message to another user with our anonymous messaging system and don't get an answer, you now just send an automatic reminder.
Nobody is required to offer you an accommodation, but it's only fair to get an answer.
GOAL: To keep the vibrancy of the community. If the user who got the reminder does not log in within four weeks, the account will be deleted. Just another way to keep the community really active.
Why the changes? We don't want a big community and a large member count. Our main goal is to be a vibrant community. These features will help us to achieve the goal.

Starting today! belodged.com also in Spanish!
To all our Spanish speaking friends: after English and German we are now proud to offer to you belodged.com in Spanish as well. Nevertheless if something should be missing or incorrect, then please let us know - or even better - send your translation directly to us! We would be very pleased!!!
Otherwise it can never harm to practice a little English ;)

We would like to thank the EveryWare AG in Switzerland. She will take over the hosting and security maintenance of belodged.com. To set up the changes and test the new environment we plan a downtime of belodged.com and all services for the 19 December around: 2pm CET (Berlin, Zurich) for 90minutes (+/- 2hours). This is around 8am PST in New York, 12am EEST (Moskow). See a complete time table here.

New: Full Text Search
You can now do a full text search for the location of your dreams. You will find accommodations fast and easy. Here is a thought: if you use the map system it gets a little bit more interesting to search for possible locations.

This Release
For now the main functions are implemented. Step by step and with your input the amount of features will grow more and more.
Please note: French, Spanish and Chinese translations are in the works.

BigBang and relaunch
Finally, it has begun! We worked for a couple of months on the relaunch. The former website globiwalk was taken offline. A completely new system with several new features and a new look & feel was completed.
From now on you will decide how we will continue. That's how the idea of "lodging for free and meet new people" really starts to be fun.
Celebrate with us and join us! Become a member, pass the news through the grapevine or tell your friends. Together we will offer an amazing travel experience with lots of private accommodations all over the world, in fascinating cities or out in the wild........
